Couples come to us because they want a better relationship. They want to learn how to communicate or they want their partner to appreciate them more or they want to learn how to trust again after a betrayal. They want healing for their relationship, and they want to move forward with a set of tools that will help them to achieve this.
What many couples fail to realise is that a couple is made up of two parts. Two individuals who both bring their own set of wounds and beliefs into the mix. They want a healthy, happy relationship, but they, in themselves are neither of those things. They want their partner to fix or complete them, but their partner has their own set of needs which are calling to be met.
We’ve all heard the cliché, “You complete me.” Completion and wholeness cannot and do not come from anything or anyone outside of yourself. Healing begins with you. When each person within a relationship takes responsibility for their own healing and wholeness, the relationship automatically heals too. When couples show up for themselves, as individuals, they are better able to show up for each other.
